There are close to 120,000street lights which are operated by GAM. By2017, almost half of these had been replacedby LED bulbs, which are more efficient andlonger lasting. By the end of 2019 the remainingexisting street light bulbs will be switchedto LEDs and additional LED street lights willbe added to improve safety and security inthe city. It is projected the project will reduceconsumption of electricity in public lightingup to 50 percent. In 2017 the GAM buildingmaintenance department installed 1500 LEDbulbs in key municipal buildings, by 2019 all ofGAM municipality buildings will have LED lights.BENEFITS • Reduced costs for municipality, less maintenance, improved quality of lightingfor residents.
