The vulnerability assessment noted that climate change will impact San Luis Obispo in a variety of ways, some potentially severe, with direct impacts on its people, economic sectors, its supporting infrastructure and services, as well as the natural environment on which much of the county’s economy, rural character, and quality of life depends. Critical vulnerabilities found include differential social vulnerabilities, large institutionalized populations in high-risk areas, regional agriculture, coastal housing, and coastal tourist attractions.
