261CDP Cities 201336254Comune di VeneziaStrategyPlanningNotRepeatable8Cities-8.0-Planning1) EcoDistrict Venice Municipality is actively involved together with other central and local administration in an effort to promote redevelopment and reindustrialization processes for the area, while recovering acceptable environmental conditions and safeguarding the Venice Lagoon ecosystem. The so-called “Ecodistretto” of Porto Marghera represents the on-going evolution. Thanks to National special funding (due to an agreement between the City of Venice and the National Environmental Department) this project will aim at attracting in the area new investments and industrial activities, including those strongly based on research and innovation.2) Cold IroningThis project is promoted by the Venice Port Autorithy and aims to involve private partner to build an electrical infrastructure to provide electricity to for large cruise ships docked at the port of Venice.3) Energy Efficiency for Tertiary Sector & Energy Efficiency for Residential Sector:these are two parts of the same project, which is aimed at upgrading the energy efficiency of the building envelope of residences and commercial buildings. The City currently is working on writing more restrictive rules for the construction industry in the aspect of energy efficiency. What is missing is a fund or a financial instrument that allows to trigger the mechanism of energy retrofits, which bring with them the benefits of saving energy, economic, and finally the possibility of financing interventions. It is necessary to involve private finances in a energy redevelopment that could give benefits on all economic sectors, especially construction companies which are in the greatest crisis since the financial crisis began.00

263CDP Cities 201336254Comune di VeneziaStrategyPlanningNotRepeatable8.2Cities-8.2-PlanningRenewable energy targets are described on Venice SEAP. Because of the historical context of quality and of a regional law which prohibits ground PV, the territory is quite unfit for solar energy big power plants. Furthermore, due lack of wind, this is not considered to be a production site for wind energy. So that at this moment the aim is to reach by 2020 something like 56740 MWh by using PV, which means only 5.5% of electricity requirements. The use of biofuels is regulated at national level.00
