138322CDP Cities 201760621Lilongwe City CouncilOpportunitiesOpportunitiesNotRepeatable5.2Cities-5.2-OpportunitiesNAME OF THE PROJECT:Development of Area 10 EDEN Dam Recreation Centre at Area 10. The project entails upgrading of the dilapidated Area 10 Dam to a modern recreation centre. The proposed activities include: rehabilitation and de-siltation of the water reservoir; construction of tourist chalets; construction of a food court, coffee shop and development of green park around the dam.Several potential private sector companies have expressed interest to incorporate water sport to enhance the business profit of the dam.The Council’s contribution towards the project would be land for Area 10 dam, development of a Green Park and technical supervision. Private sector companies would finance development of the food court, tourist chalets, coffee shop and operation of water sports. Private sector companies will charge fees for services while Council would collect business license fees from business operators.Project justification: The Project shall provide a local recreational centre and will help enhance revenue for the Council.6Cities-5.2-C4-ProjectDescription4
