If your city uses a combination of methodologies, please select the main methodology used.2Description1Risk assessment methodologySince Curitiba is located in the head of Iguaçu river basin, which ends at the Iguaçu Falls, flooding has always been a concern. With climate change the probability of harder and more frequent rain is very high. The City Hall has hired the Vulnerability Study to confirm this tendency, through a partnership with GED/BIRD.The results of the study were generated from observational meteorological data of Climatic Research Unit (CRU) and from the HadRM3P regional and CCCma_cgcm3 global climate models. The third generation atmospheric global circulation model (CGCM3) is the Third Generation Coupled Global Climate Model developed by the Canadian Centre for Climate Modelling and Analysis. In a coupled model, the different components of the ocean and surface atmosphere are integrated. The CGCM3 model was used to produce an exhausting sequences of simulations for the IPCC Fourth Assessment Report. The Hadley Centre regional model HadRM3P is based on the General Circulation UK Met Office HadCM3. HadCM3 is the third version of the Hadley Centre coupled model and is also one of the main models used in the assessment report from IPCC.Precipitation and temperature data for the HadRM3P regional model were obtained with the support from INPE (National Institute for Space Research), since INPE's research staff was responsible for modelling executions using this model in the study region.24/06/2020 05:28:18
