CoA is currently rolling out 40 EV changing points across the city through a partnership with the Government of South Australia, SA Power Networks, Mitsubishi Motors Australia and Tesla. To maximise accessibility, there is a mix of on street and off street services strategically positioned around the city. On-street charging stations include the City of Adelaide EV Charging Hub. The Hub provides electric vehicle charging services compatible with all current plug-in electric vehicle models for up to 8 vehicles. 6 additional on street charging points will be installed at 3 strategic, high profile locations by the end of financial year. Thirty off street changing points are being installed at four of CoA UParks. At two of the large EV charging station installations (Central Market & Rundle St Upark), CoA has deployed an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) to EV Parking System in collaboration with AZZO and Nilsen. The system couples existing commercially available technologies to create a new active parking management system that enables a rapid rollout of EV charging stations in off-street public car parks. By matching EV parking space availability to actual demand, an accelerated rollout of charging stations is enabled as lost revenue from vacant EV parking spaces is minimised; EV owner confidence of an available parking space is strengthened; and inconvenience to ICE vehicles is avoided during peak parking periods. A sophisticated electrical load demand management system has been deployed; and CoA has worked with JetCharge to develop a payment App for EV charging (Chargefox). CoA has partnered with myCar, a local start up business that, through its Carbon Neutral Adelaide Partners Program. myCar is working with government to establish an innovative EV service using Adelaide as a test-bed and research centre. myCar use engineless, electric vehicles charged via a connector and a hidden panel in the taillight. myCar is also working with Flinders University on smart charging and exporting power from their fleet of batteries on wheels to support the energy grid at times of crisis or when there is shortage in renewable power. | 24/06/2020 05:30:36 | |||
