The primary aim is to develop a smart energy network that can generate renewable energy, store that energy and trade it around the Perth smart energy network to optimise its use and maximise its value.Perth and Kinross council (PKC), in collaboration with the Can Do Innovation Challenge Fund (Scottish Enterprise) and Innovate UK is running a SBRI (Small Business Research Initiative) two phase competition to develop a Smart, flexible energy system in the PKC estate. The primary goal is to develop and test a prototype Smart Energy Management platform (that will form the core of a Smart Energy Network) that has the ability to generate renewable energy and trade/transfer that energy to an unconnected council site for storage and use, with the primary aim of reducing the council’s energy costs. A secondary aim for the Smart Energy Management platform is to coordinate the battery storage assets (of the council) to explore the potential of developing new income streams from the selling of grid services – such as demand side response services or at scale, frequency response services.24/06/2020 05:30:36
