This restructuring has to be linked to a signifi cant change in power generation and consumption patterns by promoting, among other things, the development of systems for generating solar power, the most abundant renewable energy resource we have. The City Council is therefore pushing for generating systems to be installed in buildings, facilities and public spaces that make use of available, local, waste or renewable resources, principally the sun, to reduce the amount of energy that comes from the grid. This has included the launch of a solar power generation promotion programme in Barcelona to boost the installation of solar power systems on buildings and in existing public spaces, whether they are publicly or privately owned, bymeans of public or private investment. One example of how to take advantage of public spaces and their structures to generate power is the installation of power-generating pergolas and converting existing pergolas into power generators. There were 15 power-generating pergolas spread across the city in 2016 and the intention is to continue installing them. | 24/06/2020 05:30:36 | |||
