Since its publication, low-carbon development strategies have been established to reduce the GHG emissions provided mitigating the impacts of climate change and adapting to irreversible effects. With this objective in mind, we sought to formulate guidelines, goals and actions that lead the city to a low-carbon development. This set of measures are part of the Plan for the Reduction of GHG Emissions of the city of Recife, which will be presented in the next few lines.The plan is divided by sectors, as it deals with issues such as transportation and urban mobility, waste and sanitation, energy and sustainable urban development, reaching some aspects of resilience.The urban mobility sector considers guidelines that seeks to optimize the displacement of citizens, by prioritizing non-motorized vehicles and public transportation. It also seeks to diminish individual and cargo transportation, and increase efficiency in traffic management.The sanitation sector attempt to organize, in a sustainable way, the stages of collection, transportation, treatment and final destination of waste, aiming at the expansion of these services and minimize the GHG emissions provided by the treatment of effluents.The energy sector aims for the city to develop and encourage actions that promote and induce the use of clean energy and renewable sources, with emphasis on collective and shared transportation, public lighting and sustainable construction. It also address the issue of environmental education by stimulate the population to reduce and seek ways to adopt a conscious consumption.Lastly, the sustainable urban development sector seeks to construct a project on a sustainable basis for the city in a participatory way, considering the natural and built urban set, the quality of life for the citizens and rescue of the municipal identity (culture, vocations and historical evolution). | 24/06/2020 05:28:18 | ||
