If your city does not have any relevant projects, please select No relevant projects under Project Area.4Project description10Low Carbon Thermal Energy Network – Yonge & Eglinton: The City of Toronto, in partnership with Enwave Energy Corporation, and working with the TTC, Build Toronto, and Oxford Properties, will develop a hybrid geo-exchange thermal energy network (district energy system) as part of the redevelopment of the City-owned "Canada Square Lands". A hybrid geo-exchange system (ground-source heat pumps supplemented by high efficiency condensing boilers) is proposed to serve the Enabling Works phase of the Canada Square redevelopment, which is a fuel-switch of existing buildings at 2180 and 2200 Yonge Street, and the new Phase 1 building to be constructed. The planned Duplex Park will serve as the location for the borefield and an underground energy centre.The proposed geo-exchange system operates with electricity as its input energy source. Switching from natural gas to electricity provides the single most significant means of reducing carbon emissions in building energy systems. This solution provides 2,000 Tons of cooling and 2,700 Tons of heating from ground source heat pumps. This significant fuel switch from natural gas to electricity results in 790 tonnes-CO2e reduction annually from 2019 to 2023, and 3,100 tonnes-CO2e annually for 2023 onward.24/06/2020 05:28:18
