Please also select the top 3 assets or services that are affected by the climate hazard, and provide a description of the impact.10Impact description3Of all the climatic parameters studied, floods are the most likely to cause significant disturbances in the three analyzed systems. At consequences of a flood for vulnerable populations can reach large proportions and may even cause deaths. Some people can be carried by the waters, or have their houses damaged or even destroyed. Water and food shortages and the spread of diseases are possible consequences of floods.Generally, flooding impacts transport and housing infrastructure, such as bridges and homes. Poor households generally do not adequately withstand flooding. Electricity poles may also not be able to withstand, causing a temporary power outage in the city or region. Roads are momentarily interdicted in order to allow the water to flow.Public networks and services are sensitive to floods: water, electricity, sanitation, transport, telecommunications, health services, etc. will suffer interruptions. Due to the existing interactions, the interruption of one service will harm the supply of the other. The interdependence of sectors and services is a factor of fragility that must be anticipated.Floods can have a number of health consequences both during and as a result of flooding. For example, deaths, injuries and intoxications, gastrointestinal diseases and psychological problems can occur. There is also an increase in visits to the emergency department. Another consequence of the floods is the appearance of fungi in the residences which can cause or aggravate respiratory problems. The fauna and flora will also be affected by a flood. Some species present in the soil of the submerged areas will be asphyxiated, but not all, some, for example, may find conditions conducive to infesting the wastes left exposed by the floods.24/06/2020 05:28:18
