Due to the constant fights with the Indians, the existing village on the mainland was transferred to a small ridge along the mountains of Victoria Island.During the eighteenth century, the Victoria County was characterized by slow development and militarism. With the discovery of gold in Minas Gerais, the Portuguese crown took protective measures of the gold region, isolating the Holy Spirit through the prohibition of the creation of roads by its interior and foreign trade. During the nineteenth century, with the advent of the coffee cycle, immigration and other transformations, Victoria has undergone profound changes in its colonial urban structure. The municipality consists of a mainland and other islands, standing in micro homogeneous region 207 of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), known as the Greater Victoria with 98,194Km² area. Victory is limited to the north by the municipality of Serra, south of Old Town, east by the Atlantic Ocean and west by the municipality of Cariacica. The weather is megathermal, with average annual temperatures around 23,5ºC and sub-humid tropical type, with the highest concentration of rain in the summer and lower in winter. It has 352,104 inhabitants, according to IBGE (2014) and has a population density of 3338.30 inhabitants / km². Has 7 (seven) natural parks and several areas of permanent preservation and landscape, covering islands, beaches, mountains and springs. Economically Victoria is facing the trade and services, with GDP per capita of R $ 86,009.28 and HDI of 0.845 (2010). It has economically active population - EAP of 178,008 and unemployment rate of 7.25% (2010), and concentrate the administrative and political decisions by virtue of being the capital of the state of Espirito Santo. | 24/06/2020 05:30:36 | |||
