The resilience framework combines two frameworks: for risk assessment and adaptation planning. As adaptation is an ongoing and continuous effort, the resilience framework also includes a component to monitor and review adaptation measures that have been implemented, to ensure that they are effective and in line with the best available science. The formulation of Singapore’s adaptation measures is dependent on robust projections of future climate. The Centre for Climate Research Singapore (CCRS) was established in 2013 to build up in-house capability in climate science and climate modelling. To reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Singapore sets out four strategies to achieve this. Given our limited access to alternative energy sources, improving energy efficiency will remain our key strategy for reducing emissions across the industry, transport, buildings, household, waste, and water sectors. Increased awareness building, enhanced regulations, capability building, and government support will help Singapore achieve this. At the same time, to reduce carbon emissions from power generation, Singapore works towards adopting more efficient technologies and increasing the share of renewables, especially solar in our electricity mix. Singapore will continue to develop and demonstrate cutting-edge low-carbon technologies as well as scale up low-carbon solutions for deployment in Singapore and export overseas. Lastly, Singapore responds to the challenges of climate change as one nation, through the collective action of government agencies, individuals, businesses, and the community.Details of Singapore resilience framework and mitigation plans are available as part of Singapore’s Climate Action Plan (https://www.nccs.gov.sg/docs/default-source/publications/a-climate-resilient-singapore-for-a-sustainable-future.pdf) andhttps://www.nccs.gov.sg/docs/default-source/publications/take-action-today-for-a-carbon-efficient-singapore.pdf). | 24/06/2020 05:28:18 | ||||
