Specifically, the Sustainable DC 2.0 Plan calls for the District to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from all local sources to put us on track to meet our 2050 carbon neutrality target, and to advance physical adaptation and human preparedness to increase the District’s resilience to future climate change (www.sustainabledc.org). Additionally, in the introduction to Climate Ready DC, a letter from Mayor Muriel Bowser states that “climate change is no longer a distant threat. In order to prepare Washington, DC for the future, we can and must respond to new and substantial challenges created by climate change. Climate Ready DC is our plan for adapting to a changing climate that could bring more dangerous heatwaves, severe storms, and flooding along our rivers.”24/06/2020 05:30:36

The Singapore government works closely with industries to avail its urban infrastructure as an open innovation platform for companies to work together to develop, test and commercialise innovative technologies. This means companies can develop urban solutions in a real-life, sophisticated city setting, leveraging Singapore as a “Living Lab”. After proving their technologies in a reference city like Singapore, the companies can more easily scale up the solutions for the region. This has been the approach that has enabled Singapore to build up key strengths in its water management solutions, amongst other areas.Ultimately, we envisage Singapore to be a global leader in innovating and commercializing green solutions for the region, underpinned by our national ambition to be the leading, smart, sustainable and liveable city in Asia.24/06/2020 05:28:18

Please also indicate estimated emissions reduction potential and status of the emissions reduction actions your city has planned.5Project description16Electric vehicle readiness ordinance for new construction Pass a new electric vehicle readiness ordinance in 2018, which will ensure new construction or renovation of parking structures is built with electric vehicle infrastructure. The most cost-effective time to build charging stations and provide the electrical infrastructure for future charging stations is during initial site development. Seattle’s codes currently include limited requirements (primarily requiring electrical panel capacity and identifying pathways to accommodate future wiring) that support future electric vehicle charging stations. Requiring new construction to build charging stations and provide the electrical wiring needed for future stations will increase the adoption of electric vehicles and save substantial costs for future charging station installation. The projected emissions reductions from new strategies can be found in the 2018 Climate Action document: http://durkan.seattle.gov/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/SeaClimateAction_April2018.pdf24/06/2020 05:28:18
