The New Taipei City Government launched this project in an attempt to gradually reduce food waste and change citizens’ eating habits through advocacy and early education. The Surplus Food Network is a cross-departmental city government effort to foster food education, environmental protection, food cherishing and food sharing to encourage the public to develop less wasteful food practices and to share surplus food with disadvantaged groups.24/06/2020 05:30:36

The Climate Change Foundation's main goal is to collect compliance payments from regulated emitters and distribute these funds for low carbon research and development, innovation, adaptation, education and awareness. Carbon offset protocols are planned to be developed to provide incentives for the voluntary sector to produce offsets for the regulated emitters. The Federal Government adopted Coal-Fired Electricity Generation Regulations effective July 1st, 2015. The regulations state that new and existing coal fire units that have reached the end of their life have an emissions performance standard of 420 tonnes of CO2 per gigawatt hour of electricity. This has a large impact on Saskatchewan because a large part of our electricity comes from coal. The federal government has released a call for applications for grants; municipalities eligible for the grants include programming for mitigation and adaptation programs, studies and pilot programs. Additional funding is also available for appropriate asset management related to climate change initiatives.Further, theProvince of Saskatchewan is not cooperative with the Pan Canadian Framework on Climate. Public engagement with SAskatchewan business and residents occurred in 2017 and 2018, and the Saskatchewan government is expecting to release a climate change plan for the province in the fall of 2018.24/06/2020 05:28:18
