The Project is an innovative regional approach that was initiated in 2016 by a collaborative group of partners including - The City of Calgary, SouthGrow Regional Initiative, Alberta SouthWest Regional Alliance, City of Lethbridge, City of Medicine Hat and Medicine Hat College.Various communities in southern Alberta have committed over $2,000,000 to ensure over 1600km2 of the region becomes accessible to electric vehicles via 20 fast charging (DCFC) Level 3 and Level 2 chargers installed and operated by ATCO – all of which will be powered with renewable energy. The charging stations will run on the FLO network and are expected to be operational by the end of 2019.24/06/2020 05:30:36

Thermal energy from the geo-exchange system will be distributed to the mechanical rooms of each building, facilitated by a new riser pipe. Geo-exchange will contribute 85% of required space heating and domestic hot water energy as well as 74% of space cooling energy.Low Carbon Thermal Energy Network – Scarborough Village: The City of Toronto, in partnership with Enwave Energy Corporation, and working with Build Toronto and Options for Homes, will develop a near zero emissions geo-exchange thermal energy network (district energy system) as part of a new affordable housing development on a City-owned property at 253 Markham Road. A geo-exchange system will satisfy 100% of the space heating and cooling requirement and will also provide 100% of the heat required for domestic hot water, which will be stored at each building and town home. Low Carbon Thermal Energy Network – Yonge & Eglinton: The City of Toronto, in partnership with Enwave Energy Corporation, and working with the TTC, Build Toronto, and Oxford Properties, will develop a hybrid geo-exchange thermal energy network (district energy system) as part of the redevelopment of the City-owned "Canada Square Lands". The proposed geo-exchange system operates with electricity as its input energy source. Switching from natural gas to electricity provides the single most significant means of reducing carbon emissions in building energy systems. This solution provides 2,000 Tons of cooling and 2,700 Tons of heating from ground source heat pumps. Low Carbon Thermal Energy Network – Etobicoke Civic Centre: The City of Toronto, in partnership with Enwave Energy Corporation, and working with Build Toronto, is proposing to develop a renewable thermal network to serve the Etobicoke Civic Centre (ECC) Precinct – a City-owned brownfield development master-planned to be Toronto’s first Net Zero Community. The ECC Precinct LCTEN approaches zero emissions by eliminating the use of natural gas for space heating. It has the potential to reduce emissions by 2,500 tonnes of CO2e per year, 95% less than conventional space heating and cooling methods.24/06/2020 05:30:36
