Please also select the top 3 assets or services that are affected by the climate hazard, and provide a description of the impact.10Impact description4A main concern is that people are much less prepared for and acclimatized to heat waves in otherwise mild city climates. During a heat wave, rates of emergency department visitation and hospitalization increase, as well as heat-related deaths. In addition, not all housing units in San Francisco metropolitan area have access to air conditioning or other cooling mechanisms. Heat waves overwhelm the work of hospitals and other health providers. The elderly, the very young, and those with chronic health problems are most at risk when extreme heat occurs. Severe heat waves lead to increase in electricity demand for cooling and the city’s electric reliability may be more vulnerable.24/06/2020 05:28:18

Without the active involvement of citizens, a completely successful implementation of the measures of the Action Plan will be brought into question. That is why it is necessary to establish a very efficient system of monitoring progress in the described scope of action and to recognize actions that would contribute to better results. In the light of monitoring the achieved level of established communication and awareness raising, indicators which can be considered include:o Assessing the degree of information of the relevant target groups;o Understandability and availability of adequate information; o The way of planning and organizing the participatory process; o The sustainability of established communications ando To what extent the views and suggestions of stakeholders were considered.24/06/2020 05:30:36
