Our beautiful natural terrain—with Puget Sound bordering Seattle on the west and mountains, rivers, and lakes providing natural borders on all the other sides—presents one of our city’s greatest challenges. Building new housing for our growing population and keeping housing affordable are difficult without the space to expand. Housing construction only grew by 13% from 2010 to 2018 , causing home prices to jump nearly 93% over the roughly decade-long period between the bottom of the housing crisis and January 2018.As a result, one in six Seattle households is severely burdened by the cost of housing, spending more than half its income on housing, and we have seen growing rates of homelessness over the last decade. A recent report from the University of Washington disclosed that the amount a family of four needs to “scrape by” in Seattle has risen 86% from 2001 to 2017.24/06/2020 05:30:36

If so, please describe the expected outcome of the policy.2Please describe the expected outcome of the policy1Please completeSigtuna municipality supplies meals in various areas such as education (within preschool, preschool class, school, high school and leisure center) elderly care, group housing and services. In total, approximately 10,000 servings are served daily. The following goals are politically decided upon to guide the municipality's food management:• The proportion of organic food in the municipality's operations should be 60 per cent by 2030 (in 2018: 36,9%)• Food waste in the municipality's food units will decrease by 10 per cent per year during 2018-2020• The food's climate impact should decrease over timeIn parallel with the development of the food policy program, the program for the meal management in the municipality of Sigtuna has been developed. The meal management program is a guiding document to ensure quality assurance and further development of the meal operations. It handles issues such as nutritious food, pleasant environments and safe food. The program is to be taken into consideration when procuring food and external meal management and to inspire the meal operations of independent units. In procurement, high demands must be placed on quality, environmental considerations and animal husbandry. The municipality shall also take into account social and labor law conditions for those who produce the food and work for economic sustainability. In order to facilitate sustainable procurement in the food sector, the Public Procurement Authority has drawn up requirements that the public sector can use. The sustainability criteria are available for different product groups, including meat, cereals and dairy products. The municipality shall encourage local suppliers to participate in the municipality's food procurement, as a supplier or subcontractor to the wholesaler. The municipality supports local production of food in different ways. This is for example done by ensuring that valuable agricultural land is preserved and developed. The aim is that in Sigtuna municipality there should be accessible agricultural landscapes with an active agricultural industry where the agricultural land produces more and supplies ecosystem services. In order to follow the target fulfilment and implementation of the plan, the goals must be followed up in connection with interim and annual reports. The goals are formulated on the basis of being able to be followed up regularly.24/06/2020 05:30:36
