The installation of solar photovoltaic systems must be in balance with the protection of significant natural, cultural and other values, and in accordance with other development projects and infrastructure. During the development of the Spatial Urban Plan of Podgorica, the potentials and possibilities in the current planning documents for the production of electricity from solar photovoltaic systems were examined. The conditions, physical, relief, climate parameters of potential locations for the execution of solar projects and identification of those in which it is prohibited (protected natural assets) are defined. Environmental impacts, economic benefits, etc. are also considered. By analyzing all the necessary parameters in Podgorica, urban and rural areas that could be used for these purposes are defined. Bio mass (forest residue, firewood, fruit-growing vineyard residue) was recognized as a source of heat energy. The Podgorica possesses good soil conditions for raising plantations, fast-growing wood species, for energy prodaction. The document identifies the most suitable premises for such development of forest.Activities in the direction of construction of plants for the production of electricity and hot water from the landfill biogas from the landfill have been started. Building the plant involves multiple components, so its purpose can be viewed from several aspects. First of all, this way the issue of biogas is resolved and it establishes the system of functioning of the landfill according to international standards. Any possibility of hazardous situations, both in the part of pollution and in the segment of endangering people's lives, is diminished. The purpose of this project is also the possibility of using electricity for the production of hot water, which will be used for the heating of residential buildings planned near the location of the plant.
