The City has participated in both events since 2012. In 2014, the City offered an incentive to employees who biked to work by entering them in a drawing to win $50 in “Benicia Bucks.” Five employees participated and sent photos of their bike commute to the Human Re-sources Department. In addition, five employees and the Mayor signed up for the Commute Challenge Champions program and logged their commute patterns from August – October 2014 for a chance to win an ice cream party. Three of them earned the title of Commute Champion (and the $50 gift card reward) for meeting the goal of 30 clean days using an alternative commute mode. By choosing a commute alternative, SNCI estimates that these individuals reduced approximately 8,400 pounds of CO2 over 160+ combined days of commuting. In 2016 Benicia participated in California Cool Cities Challenge, which raised money from Energy Upgrade California for sustainability projects within the city. | 24/06/2020 05:30:36 | |||
