Participou da campanha "Construindo Cidades Resilientes: Minha Cidade Está se Preparando", a Estratégia Internacional para a Redução de Desastres (ISDR), a Organização das Nações Unidas (ONU). Em 2013, alcançou o 1º lugar no ranking do programa Cidade Verde Azul, divulgado pelo governo do estado de São Paulo, que classificou as cidades por desempenho ambiental em dez áreas. Também em 2013, foi uma das cidades escolhidas pela ONU para participar do projeto Urban LEDS (Urban Low Emission Development Strategies), criado pelo UN-Habitat e pela Comissão Européia, que tem como principal implementador o ICLEI - Governos Locais pela Sustentabilidade. .
