More than 80 of the top 100 software and services companies have a significant presence in Singapore. The Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore (IMDA) has been working with industry partners to develop green ICT solutions. One initiative to achieve this is the Green Data Centre Programme, an integrated research, development and demonstration (RD&D) programme for green data centre technologies. To increase the energy efficiency and sustainability of Singapore’s data centres, the BCA-IDA Green Mark for Data Centres and the Green Data Centre Standard (SS564) were introduced. Data Centre owners seeking to conduct energy efficiency (EE) retrofits were also eligible for the Investment Allowance (EE) scheme, which helps to offset the fixed capital expenditure incurred from EE retrofits. The Green Data Centres technology roadmap, commissioned by IMDA in 2014, identified several important measures that will improve the energy sustainability of data centres in the future, such as reducing energy required for cooling and improving energy management.24/06/2020 05:30:36
