El municipio se encuentra ubicado en el occidente del departamento con límites por el norte y oriente con Ibagué, por el occidente con el departamento del Quindío y por el sur con los municipios de Roncesvalles y Rovira. Cuenta con un area de 520 km² de los cuales el 0.2% corresponde al área urbana y un 99.8% al sector rural, conformado por 42 veredas y un corregimiento llamado Anaime.Según información del DANE, para el año 2019, Cajamarca contaba con 18.443 habitantes, 9.528 hombres y 8.915 mujeres; en la cabecera del municipio habitan 9.464 personas y en el centro poblado y rural disperso 8.979.Cabe resaltar que el Municipio de Cajamarca Tolima es reconocido a nivel nacional e internacional, debido a que: I) es considerado como la “Despensa Agrícola de Colombia” ya que cuenta con variedad de pisos térmicos y tierras fértiles que le permite producir gran cantidad de productos agrícolas; II) goza de grandes riquezas naturales (vegetación, fauna, fuentes hídricas...), dentro de las cuales se encuentran las cuencas del río Anaime, río Bermellón y río Coello; y III) Es el primer municipio de Colombia en impulsar una consulta popular de iniciativa ciudadana, por medio del cual los cajamarcunos dijeron NO a la explotación minera a gran escala en su territorio.07/16/2021 01:47:15
