A fire along this wildland-urban interface can result in major losses of property and structures. Significant wildfires can also occur in heavily populated areas. Historically, Boulder County has experienced numerous wildfires dating back to June 29, 1916. The threat of wildfire and potential losses are constantly increasing as human development and population increases and the wildland-urban interface expands. Due to the existing fuel loads, semiarid conditions, and continued development, the Boulder area continues to be at risk from wildfire. Given that climate projections indicate continued advance in snowmelt timing and increasing summer temperatures, wildfire conditions across the West are likely to worsen in the future. | 07/16/2021 01:47:15 | |||
