152797Cities 2020202060092City of PorvooFinlandEuropeWaste13.0What is the annual solid waste generation in your city?3Please describe the methodology used to calculate the annual solid waste generation in your city1Please completeThe provided amount of solid waste covers only municipal solid waste (the definion can be found here https://www.stat.fi/meta/kas/yhdyskuntajate_en.html) i.e. waste generated in households and waste comparable to household waste generated in production, especially in the service industries. The annual amount of generated municipal solid waste has been calculated with the CircHubs model (https://www.ymparisto.fi/fi-FI/Kulutus_ja_tuotanto/Yhdyskuntajatteen_laskennan_tueksi_uusia(51277. The CircHubs model calculates regionally generated waste collected by all mechanisms, both public and private. The region used in the model has been the 12 municipalities (including Porvoo) operated by their shared municipal waste management company Rosk'n Roll Oy Ab. The model thus provides waste amounts per capita for the region of the 12 municipalities. Here the waste amount only for the municipality of Porvoo has been calculated by the multiplying the model provided per capita amount by the population of Porvoo. Year 2018 is at the moment the latest year for which the waste amount data has been available from all actors in the municipal waste collection. The model's actors include municipal waste company, Finnish Packaging Recycling RINKI Ltd, Suomen palautuspakkaus Oy Palpa (the return systems of beverage packages managing organisation), Pirkanmaan ELY-keskus (the supervising authority for the packaging producers' responsibility). In addition, the model incorporates estimates for the waste amounts in households’ self-organised organic food composting (note: only food waste not garden waste) and waste generated in public and private services. A care has been taken in the model not to duplicate any waste amounts.07/16/2021 01:47:15
