157078Cities 2020202058395Bærum KommuneNorwayEuropeClimate Hazards and VulnerabilityClimate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment2.0aPlease select the primary process or methodology used to undertake the risk and vulnerability assessment of your city.2Description1Risk assessment methodologyThe Municipality of Bærum conducted a Comprehensive Risk and Vulnerability Analysis in 2015 which covers the entire municipality. The following main themes, from a list of 14 themes (including water supply and sanitation), are identified as representing the highest risk and vulnerability to Bærum as a result of climate change: Flood, storm surge, sea level rise, clay landslide, debris landslide and deep-seated landslide and water. (See the “Comprehensive Risk and Vulnerability Analysis for the municipalities Asker and Bærum, 2015). Flood represents the greatest risk and makes our municipality vulnerable to climate changes. There is a risk associated with what climate scientists in Norway and the IPCC commission determine as a “warmer, wetter and wilder" future weather. These are both of national and regional character but can turn local in certain places. We call it a risk of cloudburst where an extreme amount of precipitation arrives in a short period of time. The Risk and Vulnerability Analysis will be revised during 2019, and will be finished in the beginning of 2020. To conduct the assessment, a combination of methodologies have been used. The primary process in our analysis of risk and vulnerability is the one recommended by the Norwegian Directorate for Civil Protection (DBS). It is based on the fact that the methodology is to be comprehensive by preparing a solid knowledge base in advance of the analysis. The comprehensive risk and vulnerability analysis is thus an assessment that tries to provide the best answers to the following 5 questions: 1) What unwanted events may happen and the reason for these 2) What is the probability of an undesired event occurring 3) How vulnerable is Bærum to the events 4) What are the consequences of the events 5) The uncertainty associated with the assessments, that is, what knowledge do we have about the phenomena to be assessed.07/16/2021 01:47:15

Description

This data is collected through the CDP-ICLEI Unified Reporting System. When using this data, please cite both organisations using the following wording: ‘This data was collected in partnership by CDP and ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability’.
This dataset contains the full responses of publicly disclosing cities in 2020. To view the complete cities 2020 questionnaire guidance, including all questions asked in 2020, visit https://www.cdp.net/en/guidance/guidance-for-cities. Please contact cities@cdp.net if you have any questions.
When using the inventory data for aggregation, comparison and trend analysis, please note that the inventory data is based on non-verified self-reported city inputs. The reported inventory may not include all emission sources within the city boundary.
Please note that this dataset may contain data from cities or, in some instances, groups of cities at different administrative levels. This includes metropolitan areas, combined authorities, and 5 American regional councils, which are: Chicago Metropolitan Mayors Caucus; Denver Regional Council of Governments; Metropolitan Council, Twin Cities; Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments; and Mid-America Regional Council.
