Please also select the most relevant assets or services that are affected by the climate hazard and provide a description of the impact.12Please describe the impacts experienced so far, and how you expect the hazard to impact in the future1We have not experienced considerable impacts so far but the Tacoma Climate Change Resilience Study notes th efollowing potentials:PUBLIC HEALTHClimate change impacts, particularly extreme heat events, pose a considerable threat to human health. In the last decade, more Americans died from extreme heat than from any other weather-related cause. Anticipated health impacts from climate change include increased rates of the following [37]: Heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and stroke. Air quality-related respiratory illnesses such as asthma and allergies due to wildfire smoke, ozone, and increased allergen production. Extreme weather-related physical and mental health injuries. Some infectious diseases transmitted by food, water, and insects, such as West Nile Virus and fungal diseases.LAW and ORDERA recent study by an economist in Cambridge suggests that rising temperatures will lead to an increase in criminal activity in the United States [39]. The reason for this relationship is unknown—it may be that when temperatures are warmer, there are more opportunities to commit crime due to open windows and more potential victims who are outside and interacting with one another. Another theory is that temperature has a direct effect on human aggression; studies have found that subjects make more aggressive choices when they are in a hot room. Regardless of the cause, this relationship warrants careful consideration of how governments deploy police and other resources to combat future crime in the context of a changing climate.COMMUNITY and CULTUREBoth nighttime and daytime temperatures are excepted to increase and many homes in the Pacific Northwest do not have air conditioning. Warmer weather can interfere with sleep quality and duration which negatively affects human energy levels, attention spans and moods. If daytime temperatures are also higher than normal, the effects are often compounded. People may tend to stay at home or in their neighborhoods rather than get out and attend community and cultural events.07/16/2021 01:47:15

314618Cities 2020202014088City of OsloNorwayEuropeIntroduction0.1Please give a general description and introduction to your city including your city’s reporting boundary in the table below.2Description of city1Please completeOslo is the capital and the largest city of Norway. Oslo has a population of 683 794 inhabitants (1.4.2019). The city is experiencing rapid growth. Population growth creates opportunities, but it also puts pressure on the city`s land area, infrastructure, environment and economy. The geographical area of Oslo covers 454 km2. Oslo is located in a bowl formation in the terrain, the city center being surrounded by hills and the Oslo Fjord. Two thirds of the total area is forested and are protected areas where development is prohibited.10 waterways with adjoining greenbelts runs from the forests through the city and into the fjord with its 40 islands. Oslo has successfully transformed form an industrial city into a modern, green, knowledge hub. Direct carbon emissions in Oslo are 1.6 tons CO2 equivalents per capita in 2017 (the latest numbers), declining from 2.4 tonnes in 1991. The relatively low levels is due to the use of predominantly clean hydropower for heating and power consumption and the fact that approximately 70 % of daily trips in Oslo are made by public transport, walking and cycling. Oslo is a quite compact city with short distances and a functioning public transport system offering frequent departures. There is an absence of GHG intensive industrial production in Oslo and this also contributes to the low emissions rate. The City of Oslo has committed to take action against global warming and has set up a goal of reducing GHG emissions by 50 per cent from the 1990 level by 2020 and 95 per cent by 2030 (without offset trading). Oslo has phased in several zero emission solutions, such as a large scale roll-out of zero emission vehicles, a bus fleet on renewables and fossil-free district heating.07/16/2021 01:47:15
