No fundo, com as hortas procura-se responder às necessidades do munícipe, desde a sua subsistência ao combate à solidão, recorrendo e partilhando práticas e construindo massa crítica em prol do ambiente.A nossa primeira horta, Horta Ponte da Presa, inserida neste projeto, proporcionou muitos momentos em contacto com a natureza, promoveu uma alimentação saudável através do consumo de alimentos isentos de resíduos de pesticidas, com todos os benefícios inerentes em termos de saúde.As hortas são constituídas por diversos talhões, munidas de pontos de água e abrigos para guardar ferramentas de trabalho.As técnicas de produção regem-se pelo princípio da sustentabilidade, usando meios e técnicas manuais de cultivo estritamente biológico, com rega manual.Os talhões apresentam diversidade de cultivos, sendo obrigatório contemplar espécies hortícolas, aromáticas e medicinais.
