Así, desde un enfoque de cuenca y gestión integrada del territorio destinaremos recursos para la protección, conservación, restauración y aprovechamiento sustentable de los recursos naturales de esta montaña que sostiene toda una serie de actividades productivas y aporta - a través de escurrimientos superficiales - agua al Sitio Ramsar de Importancia Internacional "Presa La Vega", humedal que a su vez impacta positivamente en al menos 3,228 familias que realizan actividades agrícolas en 8,200 hectáreas que dependen de la irrigación que les provee la Presa; al igual que 104 familias de pescadores que desarrollan artes de pesca en dicho embalse.
