Tower Renewal, City Planning etc who work on these topics using their Divisional perspectives. All staff are required to use a climate lens on work conducted in an integrated fashion. The climate lens ensures that infrastructure planning, project design, development and investment minimizes the impact of infrastructure on the environment and respect. Climate lens also helps maintain ecological and biological diversity, and reaffirms the notion that infrastructure should be designed to be resilient to the effects of climate change.07/16/2021 01:47:15

Unknown changes in the future intensity of high wind events makes it difficult to quantify the level of impact this hazard will have on the City of Mississauga. However, future probability levels suggest that these conditions will continue in the future. to date, high wind events have not produced significant impacts to the City of Mississauga prior to 2019, and thus it is possible that although this hazard is expected to occur in the future, the impacts of the hazard may continue to be minimal.07/16/2021 01:47:15

This falls within WMCA’s wider Zero Carbon Homes programme, which will identify the necessary steps and guidance to support the transition to net-zero construction in the region. The first stage of the work will be looking to do the following:a) Produce a data workbook with covering report. This will include baseline data on sustainable construction in the West Midlands region. Activity on the spectrum of ‘enhanced’ standards to low and zero carbon should be considered, as it is understood there is very limited zero carbon building at present. The workbook contents should cover:a. Building performance and performance gapb. Mapping and costing of regional retrofit projectsc. Costing of baseline, improved and zero carbon housingb) A ‘zero carbon homes charter’, to be co-developed with key stakeholders including Local Authorities, LEPS and industry amongst others. This should also be referenced in the routemap.c) A report detailing a West Midlands Zero Carbon Homes routemap, charter, evidence which:a. Establishes the scale of existing/in progress ‘low carbon development’.b. Includes an options analysis of what WMCA could/should target to improve environmental performance in new/existing development.c. Details local and national exemplar projects that demonstrate the level of ambition in the West Midlands.d. Notes required investment, public sector support, finance etc required to meet the 2025 standard.e. Provide timeframes for actions to 2025, and for any necessary or recommended actions beyond.07/16/2021 01:47:15
