Now that Town of Vail has completed its first city-wide GHG inventory, it will have a city-wide baseline to work from, rather than just municipal operations. Town of Vail has also started a B3 Benchmarking program for its buildings in collaboration with the Climate Action Collaborative. Town of Vail also has a building operating system (Building OS through Lucid) to monitor and adjust energy and energy usage for municipal buildings and operations. Finally, the Town is working to upgrade its snowmelt system with more efficient boilers and exploring option to change out natural gas boilers for electric boilers that can be powered with renewable energy. Town of Vail is also exploring adoption of above building code regulations that would require electric vehicle and solar ready provisions to be included in new buildings as well as other energy efficiency requirements. Finally Town of Vail partners with Energy Smart Colorado to provide opportunities for residents and businesses to receive free energy audits and $1,000-2,000 rebates on energy efficiency improvements made to their home or business.07/16/2021 01:47:15

This effort was driven by the desire to help cities respond to California SB 379 requirements and promote a consistent approach to incorporating adaptation and resilience into relevant local plans within Alameda County. In 2017, Four Twenty Seven provided the City of Fremont with the final draft of the “Climate Hazard Assessment and Adaptation Options” report. This report was presented to the City's Environmental Sustainability Commission for consideration and discussion at the December 17, 2017 meeting. The report’s purpose is to describe projected changes in key climate hazards of concern for Fremont and the citywide assets that these hazards are likely to affect as well as to present adaptation actions that the city may incorporate into relevant plans to address these hazards. Identified hazards include:• Increased frequency and severity of inland flooding • Rises in sea levels• Increased temperatures and extreme heat events• Rainfall-induced landslides• Increased risk of and severity of wildfires07/16/2021 01:47:15
