The Town of Vail also supports the transporation goals Climate Action plan for Eagle County which includes Reduce GHG emissions 10% below 2014 levels in thetransportation and mobility sector by 2025. To achieve these targets the Town of Vail operates a free bus system year round and are currently transitioning four of the seven in town buses to fully electric buses, to be completed in Fall, 2020. Additional buses are hybrid diesel-electric buses. Town of Vail implemented an electric bike share pilot program for the community in the Summer of 2020. If it is successful, the town will consider moving to a full scale program. In addition, Town of Vail as an internal e-bike share program, in which it has purchased 10 e-bikes for municipal staff to check out and utilize around town rather than driving personal vehicles. The Town of Vail also sponsors the county wide Sole Power Green Commuting Challenge, which incentivizes residents to used human powered forms of commuting such as walking, biking, skating, etc. to commute to and from work, social engagements, and while running errands. The Town of Vail also has 21 level 2 EV charging ports and is in the process of installing 4 DC Fast EV Charging stations to improve upon the EV charging cooridor throughout Vail, Eagle County, and Colorado to improve the infrastructure and encourage more people to purchase electric vehicles. The EV chargining stations are free to the public to utilize.07/16/2021 01:47:15
