Through a collaboration with GreenCape, the South African Local Government Association , the Association of Municipal Electricity Utilities and the Western Cape Government, the lessons learnt from this programme have been made open-source (available at https://www.greencape.co.za/assets/Uploads/AMEU-SALGA-Standard-Document-SSEG-Contract-Final-30Jan2019.doc). These have already been adopted by other municipalities and are being incorporated into the drafting of national legislation. City staff members involved in the SSEG programme regularly speak about the programme and its developments on panels and at conferences. The City has also provided collaborative training and site visits to other municipalities, to share their experiences and lessons learnt.Jurisdictions within country borders: The City is closely collaborating and exchanging with other SA metros (Tshwane, Johannesburg and Ethekwini) on the SA Buildings programme (delivering carbon neutrality for all new buildings by 2030), supported and facilitated by C40 and local expert NGO Sustainable Energy Africa. The focus of the exchange is on developing regulations that will improve energy-efficiency performance and resource efficiency, and collaborative engaging relevant national government and national regulations.Jurisdiction outside of country borders (international partnerships/twinning): The City has a formalised climate partnership with Munich (Germany) since 2014, which focuses on exchange and joint project development on renewable energy, NMT (mainly cycling) and smart building development engagement platforms with the public. The partnership was formalised under the 50 Municipal Climate Partnerships programme in 2014-2015. In 2016 the cities jointly secured German donor funding for a set of climate action related projects, including a set of Cycling focused projects. | 07/16/2021 01:47:15 | ||

When using the inventory data for aggregation, comparison and trend analysis, please note that the inventory data is based on non-verified self-reported city inputs. The reported inventory may not include all emission sources within the city boundary.
Please note that this dataset may contain data from cities or, in some instances, groups of cities at different administrative levels. This includes metropolitan areas, combined authorities, and 5 American regional councils, which are: Chicago Metropolitan Mayors Caucus; Denver Regional Council of Governments; Metropolitan Council, Twin Cities; Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments; and Mid-America Regional Council.
