Due to systemic racism, generational poverty, and historical inequities, there are those in our communities who will feel the impacts of climate change first and more harshly. The City of Eugene centers the need to equitably support and actively plan adaptation goals that protect, uplift and empower those in our community most at risk of feeling the affects of climate change from extreme heat and cold exposure to economic hardships. We will use equity panel recommendations to support local measures like water and cooling stations, updates to training for first responders to better support those with mental health disorders, access to electricity, local emergency stations, greater access to medicines that support lung functioning, enhance language access beyond English, etc.07/16/2021 01:47:15
