140824Cities 202020208242City of HelsinkiFinlandEuropeTransport10.7aPlease provide more details about the zero emissions zone.2Stipulations and any plans to expand1Please completeThe environmental zone in Helsinki was introduced in 2011. Currently, buses and garbage trucks operated by local authorities (Helsinki Region Transport and Helsinki Region Environmental Services Authority) need to meet the set emissions standards, i.e. minimum of Euro 6. The environmental zone also has a designated area that restricts access to city centre for heavy duty vehicles over 12m in length.Helsinki is currently investigating ways in which the environmental zone could be extended and how electric transportation could be supported. A pilot scheme to ban the use of studded tires on certain streets is under consideration. If a congestion charge zone with CO2 emission targets is introduced in the future, it might be possible it to be tied to the environmental zone. Developing of the environmental zone is a measure no. 17 in carbon neutral Helsinki 2035 action plan (in Finnish) https://ilmastovahti.hel.fi/actions/17 and congestion charging is a measure no 10 https://ilmastovahti.hel.fi/actions/10 A study how environmental zone could be extended (2019, in Finnish) https://www.hel.fi/static/public/hela/Kaupunkiymparistolautakunnan_ymparisto-_ja_lupajao/Suomi/Paatos/2019/Kymp_2019-11-07_Ylja_17_Pk/697FE793-6AAE-CD0F-8D9B-6DCF5A400000/Liite.pdf07/16/2021 01:47:15

Description

This data is collected through the CDP-ICLEI Unified Reporting System. When using this data, please cite both organisations using the following wording: ‘This data was collected in partnership by CDP and ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability’.
This dataset contains the full responses of publicly disclosing cities in 2020. To view the complete cities 2020 questionnaire guidance, including all questions asked in 2020, visit https://www.cdp.net/en/guidance/guidance-for-cities. Please contact cities@cdp.net if you have any questions.
When using the inventory data for aggregation, comparison and trend analysis, please note that the inventory data is based on non-verified self-reported city inputs. The reported inventory may not include all emission sources within the city boundary.
Please note that this dataset may contain data from cities or, in some instances, groups of cities at different administrative levels. This includes metropolitan areas, combined authorities, and 5 American regional councils, which are: Chicago Metropolitan Mayors Caucus; Denver Regional Council of Governments; Metropolitan Council, Twin Cities; Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments; and Mid-America Regional Council.
This view contains data from the CDP Cities Europe, CDP Cities Africa and CDP Cities Middle East Authority Regions.
