Overall, rainfall-induced flooding is the largest threat to the City's overall assets. The City's Resiliency Assessment showed that one-third of our critical health facilities are vulnerable to rainfall induced-flooding, which could impact the accessibility to hospitals and other health centers to citizens that needed emergency care. Roadways could also be flooded, further impacting travel to critical facilities. Additionally, heat impacts were shown to be more prevalent among low-income households and adults over 65 years of age. There are other climate hazards that can affect human health, such as wildfires, algal blooms, and storm surge, for example, but the risks were much lower than the risk of flooding and extreme heat. | 07/16/2021 01:47:15 | |||
