Together with the private housing roof subsidy program, total capacity of 40.7 MW solar photovoltaics facilities have been built in public and private roofs by 2019. In addition, the “green energy roof public participation program” starts in 2019 with a goal to complete an installed capacity of 6 MW by 2022.Except for the programs above, Taoyuan city government has also encouraged the industries to establish solar energy. The government has also actively established solar energy in landscapes like ponds and landfills by itself.Last but the not the least, Taoyuan City Self-Government Ordinance for developing into a Low-Carbon City was enacted in 2016. The regulation stipulates that large electricity consumers with electricity contract capacity exceeding 5,000 KW must establish 10% of green electricity. In total, capacity of 123.7MW has been established under initiatives launched by city government by 2019.(2) Wind energy:Among the 36 potential offshore wind sites announced by the Central Goverment, there is one in Taoyuan. The developer, wpd Taiwan, was selected by the Bureau of Energy, Ministry of Economic Affairs on April 30, 2018 with an assessed installed capacity of 350MW. It is expected to complete grid-connected power generation in 2021.(3) Hydraulic energy:Use the resources of Shimen Reservoir to build Shimen and Yixing Hydropower Plants with an installed capacity of 130MW.(4) Establishment of biomass energy center:Challenged by the enormous volume of trash, the City plans to build a three-in-one biomass energy center in Taoyuan Science and Technology Industrial Park. The site, which is designated for the environmental protection facilities, will collaborate with the Park’s industrial waste disposal industry to reach the goals of “self-management of trash”, “establishment of a waste cycling supply chain of Taoyuan” and “An eco-friendly science park with zero waste, low pollution, diverse disposal solutions and sustainability”. | 07/16/2021 01:47:15 | |||
