Page 3 of the resolution states "The Abington Township Environmental Advisory Council will provide guidance as requested, by the Abington Township Board of Commissioners, and the Office of the Township Manager to integrate these opportunities, initiatives and goals into the work flow of Township Departments including Wastewater, Public Works, Engineering and Code, Parks and Recreation, Community Development, Fire, and Police and guide local community organizations, businesses, institutions, and residents."In addition, Abington Township was selected by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection for the 2020-2021 Local Climate Action Program (LCAP) (see https://www.dep.pa.gov/Citizens/climate/Pages/Local-Climate-Action.aspx and scroll to July 2020-June 2021 and click on Local Governments and scroll to Abington Township in Montgomery County. The Shade Tree Commission volunteered 1200 hours in planting trees and the Environmental Advisory Council led the Township to form an Abington Township Climate Action Plan Collaborative of over 30 local business, civic, educational, healthcare, elected officials, and land developers to develop a local climate action plan.
