13166960236Municipality of TrelleborgSwedenEurope0.1Please give a general description and introduction to your city including your city’s reporting boundary in the table below.2Description of city1Please completeTrelleborg has 45,877 (2020) inhabitants and is Sweden's fiftieth largest municipality, the sixth largest in the region of Scania. The municipality has 32 kilometres of coastline a larger city of approximately 24,000 inhabitants and 82 % agricultural land. Trelleborg enjoys a strategic location on the south coast, near major cities such as Malmö, Lund and Copenhagen, and has daily ferry connections to three ports in Germany and one in Poland. In southern Sweden, where you find Trelleborg municipality (the southernmost municipality in Sweden), winters are short and mild, while daytime summer temperatures normally range from 15 to 25 degrees Celsius. The air is relatively humid, making warm days feel warmer and cold days colder. However, even in winter months, snow is rare. But once it snows, it might be very difficult with strong winds and drifts on the road. The city's location on the southern coast of Skåne makes us very vulnerable to rising sea levels in general and increased risks of weather events that contribute to flooding and coastal erosion. The municipality has great ambitions to meet the needs of sustainable urban development, with functioning infrastructure and new attractive residential areas in coastal locations, while meeting the climate challenges with practising new technical solutions and robust adaptations to climate change.
