Community and stakeholder engagement through this Committee presented an opportunity to harness public interest in environmental leadership, and to initiate ambitious sustainability goals, policies, and projects. Building off of the formally-adopted sustainability policies from Metro’s countywide General Plan NashvilleNext, the Committee's 2017 inaugural report recommended Nashville pursue goals and actions across five focus-areas: Climate and Energy, Green Buildings, Waste Reduction and Recycling, Mobility, and Natural Resources. Through a series of plenary sessions, subcommittee meetings, and engagement with environmental experts, the Livable Nashville Committee developed a prioritized list of ambitious goals and recommendations that reflects NashvilleNext and other related local plans. In 2020, Mayor Cooper appointed the Sustainability Advisory Committee (https://www.nashville.gov/departments/mayor/boards/sustainability-advisory-committee) to advise and support the City’s commitment pursuant to the Global Covenant of Mayors to develop a Climate Action Plan for the city of Nashville. The Committee also will provide advice on a range of sustainability issues and review active proposals as they are being advanced and implemented by the Mayor and Metro Council through legislation, executive orders, policy changes and practices. The Committee will draw on best practices and synthesize and prioritize the good work that already has been done to implement sustainability plans and recommendations for the City—including the work of Livable Nashville, NashvilleNext, the Green Ribbon Committee and Plan to Play. The Sustainability Advisory Committee met regularly in 2020 and presented a draft Climate Mitigation Plan to Mayor Cooper in February 2021. This Plan is now being prepared for Public Engagement. The goal is for the public engagement step of the plan to take place in Sept-Oct 2021, infuse the results from the public engagement into the plan in Nov 2021 with full adoption of Nashville's Climate Mitigation Plan by end of 2021.01/20/2022 02:27:05

This dataset contains a subset of the related full cities dataset, covering GHG emissions inventory and mitigation action questions for publicly disclosing cities in 2021. The platform is still open and the dataset is updated daily to reflect new submissions.

When using the inventory data for aggregation, comparison and trend analysis, please note that the inventory data is based on non-verified self-reported city inputs. The reported inventory may not include all emission sources within the city boundary.
