The City aims to increase this by 2 percent every year. The following are some of the City's strategies in increasing its waste diversion: 1. Extensive Information Education, and Communication (IEC) Campaigns of waste segregation, recycling, and source reduction;2. Strict regulation/enforcement of the Solid Waste Management Code to discourage people to litter;3. Conduct of regular and special recycling activities covering papers, plastics, bottles and other recyclable materials;4. Conduct of composting to reduce the number of residuals which can go to the sanitary landfill;5. Ensure private sector participation in Solid Waste Management through partnerships.As per DRRM Plan, the following are some of the City's strategies on how to properly managed wastes and debris pre and post disaster:1. Enhance waste management including monitoring capabilities both human and physical resources, such as establishment of Materials Recovery Facility at the city and the barangays and use of technologies like GPS, among others.3. Strengthen the promotion of proper waste management to cover all stakeholders.4.
