Food12.4How does your city increase access to sustainable foods?2Please provide details and/or links to more information about the actions your city is taking to increase access to sustainable foods3Do you use regulatory mechanisms that limit advertising of higher carbon foods (meat, dairy, ultra-processed)?The City collaborates with the Highly Urbanized City Agriculture and Fisheries Council (HUCAFC), the policy advisory body of farmers and fisherfolk and the Department of Agriculture's monitoring arm.Various policy resolutions and ordinances institutionalizing the program were endorsed to the City Council for legislative support, such as: 1)institutionalizing survival gardens in the barangays andproviding incentives; 2) encouraging private and government institutions, as well as every household in Baguio City, to establish and maintain survival gardens/edible landscape; 3) institutionalizingBaguio Urban Gardening with the 4H Club/Youth and providing funds; 4) encouraging Baguio City urban gardeners and farmers to practice environmental, economic, and social sustainabililty for onfarm processes; and 5) institutionalizing the Barangay Agriculture and Fisheries Committee in the City of Baguio.The City developed a strategic plan and roadmap for the next six years to support the program's improvement and sustainability. The following are the key result areas: 1) Community-SupportedAgriculture; 2) Agri-Enterprise Development; 3) Agri-tourism Site Development; and 4) Digital Agriculture Information System. It is expected that by 2022, 1) households/farmers involved inCommunity-Supported Agriculture will have a 5% increase in income due to direct marketing and the establishment of barangay market days; 2) established agri-enterprises will have a 5% increase incommodity production; and 3) established agri-tourism sites will have created at least 10 jobs.Due to successful program implementation, it was already replicated by various institutions such as faith-based organizations, schools, and LGUs. Villages of the City initiated their own home gardeningcontests, providing cash and in-kind incentives. Schools established edible landscapes where produce is being sold to teaching and non-teaching staff, and to the parents of students.
