It is strategically located in the southern part of Mindanao, 56 kilometers north of Davao City, the capital of Region XI. It is bounded in the north by the municipalities of Asuncion (22.3km) and New Corella (23.3km), in the south by Davao Gulf, in the west by the Municipalities of Carmen and B. E. Dujali and in the east by the Municipalities of Maco (12.9km) and Mawab (22.6km) of CompostelaValley. Tagum is intersected by three major road network systems – the Philippine-Japan Friendship Highway that links Davao del Sur and Davao City to the province of Agusan; the Surigao Davao Coastal Road that connects Davao Oriental to the province of Surigao; and the Tagum – Panabo Circumferential Road that opens access to the Davao-Bukidnon Highway. Tagum is accessible by air, by land and bysea. From the cities of Manila, Cebu, Iloilo, Zamboanga and other centers in the country, fly to Davao International Airport (located approximately 51 kilometers south of Tagum City) then travel by land to Tagum in approximately 1 to 1.5 hour (private or public transport). While sea transportation can be accessed through the Davao International Seaport (Sasa Wharf), located approximately 51kilometers south of Tagum City that has a 2-day travel time fromManila. Land transportation is also available boarding Philtranco Busfrom Pasay City via Bicol Region then to Samar, Leyte. From Leyte, thebus will board a ferry boat to Surigao City then to Butuan City and toSan Francisco, Agusan del Sur.
