158251Cities 2021202131111Tokyo Metropolitan GovernmentJapanEast Asia14. Water SecurityWater Supply Management14.3Please select the actions you are taking to reduce the risks to your city’s water security.4Action description and implementation progress4Currently, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is producing reclaimed water at four water reclamation centers, including the Shibaura Water Reclamation Center, and is using it in the following ways. (1) Revival of clear streams: Supplying approximately 100,000 m3 of reclaimed water per day to the three rivers (Shibuya/Furukawa River, Meguro River, and Nomikawa River) in the Jonan area with low water volume and the rivers and waterways including the Nobitome Irrigation Canal and Tamagawa Josui (Tama River Aqueduct) where the flow is interrupted to restore clear streams. For Shibuya River, we are contributing to the creation of a new riparian zone in the upstream area in collaboration with the Shibuya ward and private businesses. (2) Supply to buildings: Supplying reclaimed water of about 10,000 m3 per day as toilet water for buildings to about 200 facilities in 7 districts such as Nishi-Shinjuku and the Tokyo waterfront city area. In the future, we will supply reclaimed water to redevelopment areas such as Toranomon. (3) Other utilization: Reclaimed water is being used as sprinkling water to relieve the heat of summer and as fire protection water in the event of a disaster.01/20/2022 02:27:05

Governance and Data ManagementGovernance1.0Please detail sustainability goals and targets (e.g. GHG reductions) that are incorporated into your city’s master plan and describe how these are addressed in the table below.2Description1Seattle's Climate Action Plan includes specific climate goals and targets including:Reduce Seattle’s greenhouse gas emissions by 58 percent from 2008 levels by 2030, and become carbon neutral by 2050. -Expand transit, walking, bicycling, and shared-transportation infrastructure and services to provide safe, affordable and effective options for getting around that produce low or zero emissions, particularly for lower-income households and communities of color. - Implement the urban village strategy with the goal of meeting the growing demand for conveniently located homes and businesses in pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods where residents can walk to a variety of recreation and service offerings, in order to increase the number of trips that do not require automobile use and increase access to opportunity for lower-income households and communities of color. - Implement innovative policies, such as road pricing and parking management, that better reflect the true cost of driving and therefore lead to less automobile use, while employing strategies that mitigate impacts on low-income residents. - Encourage energy efficiency and the use of low-carbon energy sources, such as waste heat and renewables, in both existing and new buildings. - Reduce the amount of waste generated while at the same time increasing the amount of waste that is recycled and composted. - Reduce the emissions associated with the life cycle of goods and services by encouraging the use of durable, local products and recycled-content or reused materials, and recycling at the end of products’ lives. - Support a food system that encourages consumption of local foods and healthy foods with a low carbon footprint, reduces food waste, and fosters composting. Seattle is making progress towards all of these targets through programming and policy initiatives across multiple departments at the City.01/20/2022 02:27:05

Although they do not contribute significantly to the reduction of emissionsclimate change, adaptation actions aim to reduce climate impacts, increasing the resilience of the territory. The targets are mainly two: on one side to manage the extreme climatic events, including heat waves, and on the other hand to realize some punctual and widespread investments, to progressively reduce the exposure of the population and the local economy to the detriment generated by extreme events. The Adaptation Plan will touch many areas of intervention: (1) water management, (2) sustainable land use, (3) enhancement of urban agriculture, (4) strengthening of green and forested areas, (4) protection of the environment and thebiodiversity, (5) health protection, especially in the most vulnerable sections of the population, (6) resilience of the building stock, (7) management of emergencies through the civil protection Plan.01/20/2022 02:27:05
