Governance and Data Management | Governance | 1.0 | Please detail sustainability goals and targets (e.g. GHG reductions) that are incorporated into your city’s master plan and describe how these are addressed in the table below. | 2 | Description | 1 | The city's plans support the Scottish Government's targets up to 2045. The recently adopted Climate Plan commits the council to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2030. There are a number of key strategies to help us achieve a low and net zero carbon future include: - The Carbon Management Plan (CMP3), setting out how the city’s own estate can contribute to the achievement of carbon neutrality by 2030, - The city’s first Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy (LHEES) which will present ambitious targets for absolute carbon reduction across the built environment in the city and; - The new City Development Plan (CDP2) which will seek to facilitate those actions that will enable the city to meet the net zero carbon target and help build climate resilience through our land use policies. The current Development Plan supports the Energy and carbon Masterplan. And CDP 2 will support the forthcoming LHEES and associated targets. The ECM contained a commitment to achieve a 30% reduction in Glasgow’s carbon emissions by 2020 (on a 2006 baseline) and identifies 33 discrete actions that, these helped the city to achieve its target ahead of schedule.Several actions identified within the ECM refer to the development of district heating as a way to reduce carbon, reduce fuel poverty, increase energy efficiency, and reduce the use of electricity for heating.Policy CDP5 requires that all new domestic and non-domestic developments make use of low and zero carbon generating technologies in order to contribute to meeting greenhouse emission targets. ( supporting SG emissions reduction targets to 2020).New developments will be designed to contribute to a reduction in carbon emissions through the installation of onsite low or zero carbon technologies. The city council and partners are working on a Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy (LHEES) for the city, addressing the reduction of carbon emissions across the built environment. The LHEES will create pathways for the city’s heat and energy systems to become low-carbon and highly efficient. The strategy will set a new and ambitious absolute carbon reduction target for 2050, while also considering a range of measures to decarbonise heat and energy systems and increase their efficiency. | 01/20/2022 02:27:05 | |||
