Waste13.6Does your city have any of the following initiatives, policies and/or regulations.2Please provide more details and/or a link to more information about any of the proposed initiatives/policies/regulations1Bans or restrictions on single use or non-recyclable materialsThe Zero Waste and Circular Economy Line seeks to reduce the generation of solid waste at the district level, increasing recycling and adding value through the creation of circular economy chains. In Jesús María the first steps have been taken in this direction. However, GHG emissions associated with solid waste are still high. It is necessary to continue working to reduce the amount of waste that currently ends up in transfer plants at the metropolitan level. The key is not only to increase recycling values in the district, but also to give them a value through proper management. Currently, the economic system that accompanies recycling is radically confronted with the life cycle of nature and sustainable development, both concepts focused on long-term processes. In Jesús María it is necessary to establish guidelines for the continuous reuse of resources, thus reducing the consequences for future generations. Taking the cyclical model of nature as an example, the circular economy is presented as a system of resource utilization where the reduction of elements takes precedence: minimizing production to the indispensable minimum, and when it is necessary to make use of the product, betting on the reuse of the elements that, due to their properties, cannot return to the environment. Jesús María focuses its actions on the development of a series of strategies:Reduce the generation of solid waste at the municipal level.Strengthening selective collection Reuse of resources and raw materialsPotential GHG reduction under an ambitious scenario to 2050: 42,842 t CO2eq01/20/2022 02:27:05
