Water SecurityWater Supply Management14.3Please select the actions you are taking to reduce the risks to your city’s water security.4Action description and implementation progress1El estrés hídrico afecta a toda la población de Lima porque la demanda supera ampliamente a la cantidad disponible de agua.

343117Cities 2021202114088Oslo kommuneNorwayEurope0. Introduction0.1Please give a general description and introduction to your city including your city’s reporting boundary in the table below.2Description of city1Please completeOslo is the capital and the largest city of Norway. Oslo has a population of 697 010 inhabitants (1.1.2021). The city has experiencied rapid growth the last years, except from last year. Population growth creates opportunities, but it also puts pressure on the city`s land area, infrastructure, environment and economy. The geographical area of Oslo covers 454 km2. Oslo is located in a bowl formation in the terrain, the city center being surrounded by hills and the Oslo Fjord. Two thirds of the total area is forested and are protected areas where development is prohibited. 10 waterways with adjoining greenbelts runs from the forests through the city and into the fjord with its 40 islands. Oslo has successfully transformed from an industrial city into a modern, green, knowledge hub. Direct carbon emissions in Oslo were 1.8 tons CO2 equivalents per capita in 2019 (the latest numbers), declining from 2,5 tonnes in 2009. The relatively low levels of emissions is due to the use of predominantly clean hydropower for heating and power consumption and also that approximately 70 % of daily trips in Oslo are made by public transport, walking and cycling. Oslo is a quite compact city with short distances and a functioning public transport system offering frequent departures. There is an absence of GHG intensive industrial production in Oslo and this also contributes to the low emissions rate. The City of Oslo has committed to take action against global warming and has set up a goal of reducing GHG emissions by 95 per cent by 2030 (without offset trading). Oslo has phased in several zero emission solutions, such as a large scale roll-out of zero emission vehicles, a bus fleet on renewables and fossil-free district heating.01/20/2022 02:27:05
