Water SecurityWater Supply Management14.3Please select the actions you are taking to reduce the risks to your city’s water security.4Action description and implementation progress1The Pavilhão da Água/Water House, the center for water education in the city of Porto, annually receives around 52,000 visitors, mainly children, who come into contact with interactive and multimedia experiences focused on the importance of water resources and individual and collective measures for its preservation. At the same time, the environmental education team runs a program of outdoor activities within “Fora de Portas - H2Out” project , which includes the hands on laboratories in schools in the municipalities of the Metropolitan Area of Porto.During the Covid-19 pandemic, environmental education activities were diversified through the H2Online project, based on laboratory experiences carried out by videoconference. The focus on environmental education was strengthened with the organisation of Aquaporto, the largest water and science festival in the Portugal. Over three days, more than 10,000 participants passed through Porto City Park, in the surroundings of the Pavilhão da Água/Water House. Under the motto "Water Planet", and with the support of several educational, science and research institutions, this event launched a global alert regarding the protection of water resources, through a program with dozens of scientific, pedagogical and recreational experiences of free access.Over the years, several communication campaigns have also been developed targeting the entire population, residents and workers in the municipality of Porto with messages about water scarcity and the need to save this resource. At this moment, the campaign “A Change for Our Water” is taking place to raise awareness among citizens about the value of water and the need to combat its waste.01/20/2022 02:27:05
