352217Cities 2021202131166Jakarta City GovernmentIndonesiaSoutheast Asia and Oceania0. Introduction0.1Please give a general description and introduction to your city including your city’s reporting boundary in the table below.2Description of city1Please completeJakarta is the capital city of the Republic of Indonesia. Geographically, the land area of DKI Jakarta is 662.33 km2 and the sea area is 6,977.50 km2; The height above sea level is 7 meters; The average temperature is between 27.9 - 29.6 degrees Celsius; Total population of 10,562,088 people; Clean water service coverage of 66.09%; The vulnerable population is around 3.7%; The population density of DKI Jakarta in 2020 is 14.55 thousand people per km2. Having 13 rivers with 40% of the land area below Average Sea Level makes Jakarta vulnerable to climate risks, namely extreme changes in rainfall patterns and rising sea levels resulting in urban flooding. Considering its role, both as the capital city and as the center of economy and business, Jakarta must be prepared with short and long term plans to increase Jakarta's resilience to the impacts of climate change. About 65,000 hectares in the northern part of Jakarta, is a lowland area, located below Average Sea Level. This area is prone to flooding due to high tides due to an increase in Mean Sea Level of 0.5 cm as a result of global warming and land subsidence of 6 cm per year. Floods are also caused by torrential rains and rising sea levels have a major impact on the city.01/20/2022 02:27:05
