Food12.4How does your city increase access to sustainable foods?2Please provide details and/or links to more information about the actions your city is taking to increase access to sustainable foods1Do you subsidise fresh fruits and vegetables? In summer of 2019, City-County Council passed a short-term plan to address pressing food insecurity issues in the county. This plan included a pilot Lyft program to help residents in food deserts receive subsidized rides to and from grocery stores, an app for residents to easily locate food resources near them, and a mobile food market to bring fresh produce to areas in need. The app, created by Indy Food Network in partnership with the City of Indianapolis, was launched shortly after, and offers residents a free resource to locate fresh food, food pantries, and eligibility for programs like SNAP. For those without a smart phone, there is also the ability to send a text to a number to receive information that way. https://www.indyhunger.org/compass/01/20/2022 02:27:05
